Gastronomy in Puebla
The food of Puebla is world famous. It comes from a syncretism of two cultures: the pre-Hispanic and the Spanish as well as with French and Oriental influences which give it a unique and distinctive touch.
Puebla is proud of its Mole Poblano, which has become a national dish and its exquisite Chiles en Nogada an excellent baroque dish. Naturally, we include our delicious chalupas, molotes, cemitas, pipian verde, changlas, guajolotes, tinga cuitlacoches, gusanos de maguey, escamoles and an endless array of wonderful dishes. We mustn’t forget the traditional sweets that are such a pleasure to the palate, among these we have the Tortitas de Santa Clara, camotes, dulces de pepita, jamoncillos de piñón, frutas cristalizadas, gaznates, macarrones….. If you don’t know what the majority of these things are…. Well that’s one more, delicious reason to come to Puebla!.
