Biblioteca Palafociana (Palafoxian Library)

This colonial library is located on the upper floor of the Colegio de San Juan and was founded by Bishop Juan de Palafox, who donated his private library of 6000 volumes to the Tridentino Seminaries in 1646. It became the richest in printed works in all of Spanish America. On July 31 1981, the federal government decreed it a “Historic Monument of Mexico”.
